Following a thoughtful assessment, the MLA had to cancel its annual Water Quality testing program in 2020 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
No measurement is more urgent or important than the health of our members.
Given that we have 19 years of accumulated data at many of our sites, a one-year hiatus will be manageable from a lake health trend analysis perspective. We are hopeful the program will be able to run in the spring/summer of 2021.
The MLA Water Quality Initiative Report presents data collected at 196 locations during the summer and compares it to data to previous years. The objectives of the MLA Water Quality Program are:
- To promote and encourage good stewardship of the lakes;
- To monitor the long-term health of the lakes;
- To identify adverse water quality trends at an early stage; and
- To promote causation studies and remediation by the responsible authorities.
